New Yeah!

As the new "yeah!" passes into being, I have to post an obligatory statement.

Last year, I released albums from Joey Herzfeld, Tom Conway and the inimitable Shane O'Linski's Haemogoblin. I also started up the podcast again and produced 12 episodes, each one featuring a session from a different Norwich band or artist, find it at PMVpodcast.co.uk or wherever people get podcasts. And I played and helped run dozens of gigs. Despite all that, it felt like a very lazy year. Sure, I have a job and a family but I also spent an inordinate amount of time playing Crash Team Racing, watching TV and reading comic books. And I wouldn't change a thing, I tell ya, mwah ha ha ha. Moving into '25, I am continuing to try and respond dynamically to the world around me, not keep running on tracks. I have talked before about how the label evolves over the years, it was created with firm ideals and practices in answer to the consequences of the Digital Revolution. 8 years later, while the principles remain the same, the culture and technological context continues to change. I feel the label needs to rethink how it operates in order to continue being cutting edge. Nonetheless, all that shite aside, we will continue to release, produce and support art which inspires, lifts and improves the world around it.

Continue to support us by following us. One thing we're looking into is our relationship with social media but we're still there for now. And purchase our products. Again, we're looking into various other music platforms but currently purchasing a download direct from our store is still the best way to support us and our artists and it's an active and meaningful way to listen to music. Thanks and wishing you the best of yeahs.

MARLA - Átök

Released 02/12/22

On December 2nd at Voodoo Daddy's Showroom, Norwich, we have a mammoth Off with their Records event. Not only are MARLA celebrating 10 years of making music together with a special live show and new release, Painted Heathers also drop new music in the form of the 'Weird Things' digibundle. For a mere £1.50 you can get this 5-track high-quality mp3 download of Indie, Britpop perfection.

Come down to Voodoos on 2nd to see live performances from MARLA and Painted Heathers as well as Off with their Records alumnus, Takeda, and London dream-pop rap bunch, Love Trapezium.

Post-garage-rock band, MARLA, have been with Off with their Records since their Abbey Road-recorded '2019' EP and remain one of our most innovative acts. 2022 marks 10 years since their very earliest formation and we think it's time for a retrospective and appraisal of their career to date.

Across social media, the internet at large and that actual physical world we all live in, we are releasing various artefacts from MARLA's 10 years. Look out for a variety of posters and print media as well as videos and music along with more contextual and behind the scenes info, giving fans the opportunity to enjoy the history of the band and see it in its broader context.

The retrospective culminates in the 'A Decade of Delay' show on 2nd December at Voodoo Daddy's, Norwich. This is a special performance from MARLA with support from Takeda, Painted Heathers and Love Trapezium. The show is accompanied by a new music release and there will be plenty of memorabilia up for grabs to fans, first come first serve.

Check out our upcoming events list, I've just updated it with everything we currently have booked in and it's looking good. I'm not a gig promoter, I don't go out of my way to put on gigs, but live performance is a part of music so inevitably these things happen. Among the dates we've got a new residency at VR Escape Room, an awesome space with a beer garden right on the river down near Oak Street. We have our monthly free gig at The Rumsey Wells and the usual smattering of London gigs for various bands on the label. My only concern when booking a gig is that the night is a magical phenomenon that transcends the very concept of a live music event. So if that's your thang then come on down.
