Come, Son of Jor-El, Kneel Before Pod

It's true. PMVpodcast is back. It was long ago, in 2013, that I first started up PMVpodcast. It ran from 2013-2018, 70 episodes, each featuring a live session from a different band along with interviews, local music news, gig listings and DIY chat. A number of things have influenced me to start up the podcast again. The big reason is that I've had to take down the old episodes, the platform I was using to host them has become defunct and I can't justify paying for it any longer. So I've seized on the opportunity to do what I've wanted to do for a long time which is to remaster and repackage the old episodes. So the new series alternates new sessions with remastered old sessions.

Search for PMVpodcast on any podcast app to find it. If you're having trouble then go to https://pmvpodcast.podbean.com/ to find direct links to listen and follow on any platform.

Pod bless you, my child.

MARLA - Átök

Released 02/12/22

Post-garage-rock band, MARLA, have been with Off with their Records since their Abbey Road-recorded '2019' EP and remain one of our most innovative acts. 2022 marks 10 years since their very earliest formation and we think it's time for a retrospective and appraisal of their career to date.

Across social media, the internet at large and that actual physical world we all live in, we are releasing various artefacts from MARLA's 10 years. Look out for a variety of posters and print media as well as videos and music along with more contextual and behind the scenes info, giving fans the opportunity to enjoy the history of the band and see it in its broader context.

The retrospective culminates in the 'A Decade of Delay' show on 2nd December at Voodoo Daddy's, Norwich. This is a special performance from MARLA with support from Takeda, Painted Heathers and Love Trapezium. The show is accompanied by a new music release and there will be plenty of memorabilia up for grabs to fans, first come first serve.

Check out our upcoming events list, I've just updated it with everything we currently have booked in and it's looking good. I'm not a gig promoter, I don't go out of my way to put on gigs, but live performance is a part of music so inevitably these things happen. Among the dates we've got a new residency at VR Escape Room, an awesome space with a beer garden right on the river down near Oak Street. We have our monthly free gig at The Rumsey Wells and the usual smattering of London gigs for various bands on the label. My only concern when booking a gig is that the night is a magical phenomenon that transcends the very concept of a live music event. So if that's your thang then come on down.

The new album 'Rubber Boobidy Boobidy' by the Tom Conway Trio was released on 16th August with a launch gig at The York in Norwich to rapturous acclaim. We took great pains getting everything right for the launch and it's one of those rare occasions where even my self-critical, over-analytical mind is in the uncomfortable position of being completely happy. We exceeded our upper expectation for attendance, the trio's performance was transcendent, the applause at the end must have gone on for a full 2 minutes, the venue was wonderful, Danny Whitehouse excelled as support act. It only remains for me to thank everybody involved.

The album is available on CD, cassette and download and a lot of them are already gone, we only did 25 tapes so if you want one of those I would recommend getting in fast.

We have a couple of releases ready to go, just waiting on artwork so stay tuned for more from Off with their Records and co.
